International Women’s Day
National Women’s Day began in 1908 in New York City and over the years it was recognized by many countries including Russia and China. Many times, it marked the right to vote for women. Over time the day came to represent a demand for women’s rights, equal pay, reproductive rights, childcare subsidies, and prevention of violence against women.
In 1975 the United Nations began celebrating International Woman’s Day on March 8th. When looking into the history of our day I found these links to be very good:
